The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has launched a special operation called ‘All-Out Action’ to combat theft, robbery, and mugging in the capital ahead of Ramadan.
Additional Commissioner (DB) of the DMP Rezaul Karim Mallik disclosed this while briefing reporters at the DMP media center in the capital on Saturday, reports UNB.
“Intelligence information, which we have gotten, suggests that most of those involved in theft, robbery, and mugging are aged between 15 and 20. Many of them are members of juvenile gangs. A fascist political party is encouraging these criminals and aiding their activities,” he said.
He also said they are getting information about terrorist groups in different areas and the 'all-out action' started against them.
DB Additional Commissioner Rezaul Karim said on the occasion of the upcoming holy month of Ramadan the special operation will continue along with its regular activities.
The DB chief said that financial transactions have increased significantly during the month of Ramadan, with more crowds at banks, insurance offices, railway stations, bus terminals, and launch terminals.
“To prevent any sabotage or criminal activities in these areas, we have intensified our intelligence surveillance,” he added.
Besides, intelligence surveillance has been increased to prevent accidents on roads and highways.
He further added that joint forces have intensified its activities to maintain law and order. “We have been helping them by providing our intelligence information.”
The DB chief mentioned that the law and order situation is gradually improving in the capital, and more improvement is likely.
“If anyone fake DB police is detained, please inform us immediately. Also, if you have any information on potential sabotage, report it to DB. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential” he added.
