Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 228 individuals involved in various criminal activities in the last 24 hours, following a large-scale raid across the city. The arrestees included 15 dacoits, 24 professional robbers, 5 extortionists, 12 thieves, 27 drug dealers, 30 wanted criminals, and others involved in different offenses, reports BSS.
According to sources from the DMP's Crime Command and Control Center, 550 patrol teams were deployed to ensure public safety across 50 police stations throughout Dhaka.
The operation also led to the recovery of several weapons and items, including six knives, two switch gears, one chapati, two axes, three pipes, a microbus, four mobile phones, and cash amounting to BDT 62,290. Additionally, authorities seized 37.645 kg of Ganja, 238 pieces of Yaba, and 20.2 grams of heroin.
A total of 49 cases were filed in various police stations, and appropriate legal actions have been taken against the arrested individuals. To enhance public safety and maintain law and order, DMP has increased the number of police checkposts and patrolling activities in coordination with other law enforcement agencies in Dhaka.
