The ceremony to launch National Citizen Party (NCP), a new political party of last year’s uprising leaders, began with recitations from the holy scriptures at the Manik Mia Avenue in the capital on Friday afternoon.
Nahid Islam will remain as the convener of the National Citizens Party, while Akhter Hossain will serve as the member secretary.
These decisions were made at a joint meeting of the National Citizens Committee and the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement at the central office of the National Citizens Committee at Rupayan Trade Center in Banglamotor on Thursday. Nahid Islam and Akhter Hossain were elected as the top leaders unopposed in the meeting.
In addition, it has been decided to make Hasnat Abdullah the main organizer of the southern region and Sarjis Alam the main organizer of the northern region.
Nasiruddin Patwari and Abdul Hannan Masud will be the top leaders in the committee.
