BNP Vice-chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu has said that the interim government does not understand the importance of national elections in resolving the country's crisis.
He made these comments at a rally organized by the National Civil Rights Implementation Committee in front of the National Press Club on Friday morning demanding early elections.
Dudu said, “The government has not yet withdrawn the cases filed against BNP leaders during the Awami League government.”
Stating that BNP has support for the government, he said, “We demand that the government hold early national elections. In addition, if the law and order situation cannot be normalized, the interim government will lose popularity.”
Dudu also said, “There were cases during Hasina's tenure. There were disappearances, murders. There were torture and torture of BNP leaders and activists. 6 million cases were filed.”
He said that the people of this country love and support the government. But if it does not do its job, people will not take a moment to withdraw their support. Therefore, the government must be alert. It must take swift action.
