BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that the country’s democracy will not be safe and secure until parliament and accountable government are formed by representatives elected by the people’s direct vote.
“Though dictatorship has escaped, democracy is still not free from danger. The friends of the fugitive dictator are engaged in hatching a conspiracy to raise their heads again with various tactics,” he said on Friday.
While virtually addressing a meeting in Chattogram from London, Tarique said the plot is being hatched spontaneously to foil the mission and vision of the Prof Muhammad Yunus-led interim government.
Claiming that the people of the Sanatan community have been politically exploited for the last 17 years, he said now they have realised what is very important to do for them.
He assured that the BNP would work to ensure equal rights for all people to build a safer Bangladesh in the future if the party is voted to power in the next election.
