Running staff members of the Bangladesh Railway will continue their work abstention as a meeting with the authorities concerned of the government failed to reach any decision on Tuesday.
With the stalemate, train services will remain halted across the country until a breakthrough is achieved.
Thousands of travellers and commuters have been suffering since the early hours of Tuesday as the railway running staff started observing a work abstention programme, demanding pension and gratuity with their mileage allowance.
Under the circumstances, Railways Secretary Md Fahimul Islam and other stakeholders sat with the striking staffers at the VIP room of the Kamalapur railway station to resolve the issue.
The meeting started around 1:30 pm, while representatives of the strikers left the discussion around 2:45 pm without any solution.
Saidur Rahman, a leader of the railway staff members, said, “We had a long meeting with the railways secretary and director general. But we left during the meeting as we could not reach any decision. We will discuss the matter with our central leaders. We will continue our work abstention programme.”
