Dense fog and intense cold have left day laborers in distress, with many lacking adequate warm clothing, intensifying their suffering. To cope with the freezing temperatures, they are resorting to lighting small fires.
Meanwhile, hospitals are seeing a rise in patients suffering from cold-related illnesses.
The district administration has announced that nearly 24,000 blankets have been distributed officially in the area. A request for additional supplies has been sent to the Ministry of Disaster Management.
Additionally, various private organizations are distributing warm clothing to the homeless across different parts of the district.
Senior meteorologist Rakibul Hasan, Chuadanga Regional Weather Office, said that the temperature has dropped by nearly 4°C over the past three days. The cold is being felt more acutely due to the northern chilly winds. A mild cold wave is currently sweeping over the district and is expected to persist for the coming days.
