Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has left the country for London.
A special air ambulance carrying her left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Tuesday at local time around 11:45 pm. The air ambulance was provided by Qatar Emir, which is fully equipped with advanced medical facilities.
Earlier, the BNP Chairperson reached the HSIA in Dhaka to travel to London for advanced treatment.
She reached the HSIA around 10:50 pm on Tuesday.
Before that, the former prime minister left her Gulshan residence ‘Feroza’ around 8:15 pm along with her entourage, including six medical team doctors.
Earlier in the day, thousands of leaders and activists of her party gathered outside her Gulshan residence to bid her farewell.
The party standing committee members had gathered at the airport’s VIP lounge to greet their party chief and wish her safe travels.
On the other hand, the BNP men amassed the streets near her home, showing deep love, affection and support for their beloved ailing 79-year-old leader, who has been battling serious health issues.
