Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee, has stated that every aspect of the 2024 uprising, which ended fascism through the bloodshed of hundreds of students and citizens, must be given constitutional recognition.
“Every event regarding the mass uprising must receive constitutional recognition. Every individual involved should be incorporated into the constitution, along with the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement platform,” said Sarjis
Speaking in Faridpur on Monday during a public outreach program, Sarjis Alam made these remarks while speaking at a program aiming to raise awareness about the 'Proclamation of the July Revolution.'
Sarjis said, “The July Revolution occurred to end Sheikh Hasina’s fascism. In this revolution, hundreds of students and citizens sacrificed their lives. Also, hundreds of people got injured. This uprising was carried out by uniting people from all walks of life through the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement platform”
Commenting on other political parties, he said, “In the last 16 years, you could not unite. We succeeded in July because we came together, which led to this uprising. If we get involved in conflicts because of power struggles, then there will be disunity among us. This will allow fascist Awami League to come back."
Regarding Bangladesh’s foreign policy, Sarjis strongly feels that Bangladesh is no longer a submissive nation.
“We are no longer submissive to anyone. If any global superpower attempts to interfere in our foreign policy, we will reject it outright,” said Sarjis.
