Expatriate Bangladeshis sent $22.67 crore in remittances during the first four days of January, the first month of the new calendar.
The daily average remittances to the country are $5.66 crore.
According to the latest data received from the Bangladesh Bank on Monday, Bangladesh received over $22 crore 67 lakh 30 thousand remittances in four days of January.
Of this, remittances through state-owned banks come to $7.22 crore, specialised banks accounted for $1 crore 1 lakh 10 thousand, while private banks received $14 crore 39 lakh 90 thousand and foreign banks received $4.40 lakh.
Meanwhile, in December last year, expatriates sent $263.87 crore, which is the ever highest in the country’s history.
