Ferry movement on the Aricha-Kazirhat route in the Jamuna River resumed around 10 am on Monday after a suspension of three and a half hours due to dense fog, sources from the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Aricha Ghat said.
BIWTC Aricha Ghat Deputy General Manager (DGM) Md. Abdullah stated that ferry service on the Aricha-Kazirhat route had been suspended at 6:10 am on Monday due to poor visibility caused by dense fog blanketing the riverbed, reports BSS.
He mentioned that four ferries – Chitra, Dhan Siri, Khan Jahan Ali, and Bir Shreshtha Hamidur Rahman – were anchored in the middle of the Jamuna, loaded with vehicles and passengers, while ferry Kishani was anchored at Aricha Ghat.
