The Election Commission (EC) will start the process of updating the voter list by going door to door from January 20.
Election Commission (EC) officials confirmed the matter on Monday.
In this regard, EC additional secretary KM Ali Newaz said, “We hope to be able to start this process in the second half of January 2025. We have already completed the preparations. We will be able to complete the training for the trainers in this regard by January 5. Those who receive this training will train the field personnel who will go door to door to collect information on how to collect information.”
He also said after publishing the draft voter list on January 2 next year, we will open it for public viewing. The public will get the opportunity to see it. If anyone is left out, a system will be made for them to resolve their claims and objections. After the claims and objections are resolved, they will be included in the final voter list that will be published on March 2. We conduct this task every year. We will consider this as the 24th update and 25th voter list.
Stating that the voters' list will be updated by going door to door after collecting information one year in advance, he said, "If anyone is left out of the list, we will also go door to door for another year in advance and update the voter list. We will not only collect information for 2025, but also will also collect information for those who will turn 18 on January 1, 2026. We will include them in the voter list for 2026. However, they will not be considered voters in any election in the year 25.”
