University Grants Commission (UGC) has instructed universities to waive tuition fees for all university-level students injured during the student-people uprising in July-August. As a result, students injured in that movement, whether in public or private universities, will have their tuition fees waived. However, they must provide evidence of their injuries.
In a notice issued on Tuesday (November 20), the UGC stated that following a notification issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education on October 29, 2024, the government has decided to waive tuition fees for students injured during the student-people uprising. This applies to students at all levels of education, including government and private schools, colleges, madrasas, technical institutions, and universities. The UGC has asked institutions to take the necessary steps to implement the latest instruction.
According to the notification issued by the Ministry of Education on October 29, the interim government has decided to waive tuition fees for students injured during the student-people uprising in July-August.
The notification further stated that injured students must submit an application to the head of their respective institutions, along with medical documentation of their injuries. The institution authorities will promptly review the applications and take steps to ensure the waiver of tuition fees.
