Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar has said that individuals who were complicit with the deposed fascist regime have no moral right to remain in the advisery council of the current interim government.
“Those who openly criticised Alems, collaborated with fascism, or served its interests in bureaucracy and judiciary cannot ethically hold advisery roles,” Parwar said at a Rukon (member) conference of Jamaat’s Bagerhat district unit at the Khanjahan Ali Adarsha Alim Madrasah grounds on Friday.
Emphasising the need for free, fair and impartial elections, he said it is essential to honour the sacrifices of martyrs and build a new, united Bangladesh. “National unity is crucial for this,” he added.
Parwar also highlighted the need for comprehensive reforms in the police administration, civil administration, judiciary, constitution and Election Commission, without which, he claimed, elections like those of 2014, 2018 and 2024 will recur.
“Most of the 11-12 lakh officials in the country are remnants of the fascist government. Once they are replaced, the nation will be free from the grip of fascist influence,” he added.
He urged all political parties to unite to eliminate fascism.
At a separate event in Dinajpur, during the party’s Majlish-e-Shura meeting, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Assistant Secretary General and Rangpur-Dinajpur region’s Coordinator Maulana Abdul Halim criticised the Awami League for barring citizens from voting in three consecutive national elections.
