A case has been filed over attacking on Khaleda Zia’s motorcade after 7 years of the incidence.
In the case, former member of parliament (MP) Alauddin Ahmed was named as main accused, while another 150 to 200 people were charged as accused anonymously.
Chagalnaya Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Nazrul Islam confirmed this information On Thursday (October 10) night.
According to the statement of the case, on October 28, in 2017, Awami League leaders and activists blocked Khaleda Zia's convoy at Muhuriganj on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway on the way to Cox's Bazar. She was going to visit the Rohingya camp and distribute relief. There, local weapons, cocktails were fired. Then Awami League leaders and activists tried to kill BNP leaders and activists by vandalizing 20 to 25 cars. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and many others were injured in this attack. Besides, there is a loss of around Tk 1 crore 5 lakh. After the convoy left, the Awami League activists vandalized the houses of the BNP and its affiliates and extorted money.
In this regard, Sultan Mohammad Sikandar Bhutto, the former Finance Secretary of Chagalnaya Upazila BNP, filed the case at Chagalnaya Police Station as the plaintiff. In the case, local public representatives, leaders and activists of Awami League and allied organizations have been accused.
