Adviser to the Ministry of Post, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Nahid Islam, has assured that an exemplary trial will be held for the murder of Lieutenant Tanjim Sarwar, who was killed by criminals during an operation earlier this week in Cox’s Bazar.
Nahid emphasized the government’s commitment to bringing those responsible to justice. “We will ensure the strictest punishment for this murder. The investigation is ongoing, and no matter who is involved, they will face justice," he said, according to a press release on Thursday, reports UNB.
The adviser was speaking to the media after meeting the family members of the martyred army officer at the Army Multipurpose Complex in Dhaka Cantonment on Thursday.
"This young and talented officer sacrificed his life to protect the lives and property of the people. His self-sacrifice will forever be remembered as a symbol of patriotism," he added.
Nahid highlighted the government's dedication to restoring law and order, mentioning that the recovery of illegal weapons across the country is ongoing. "Despite challenges, our law enforcement and joint forces are working diligently to ensure public safety and maintain order," he said.
In addition, the government plans to honour Lt Tanjim’s memory with state initiatives at his birthplace in Tangail, the adviser noted.
Lt Tanjim’s father, Sarwar Jahan Delwar, along with other family members and senior army officials, were present during the meeting.
The adviser also said that six suspects have already been arrested in connection with the murder.
