The interim government has formed two separate committees at the ministry and district levels to withdraw the false cases filed against political persons and innocent people to harass them politically.
An order from the Public Security Division of the Home Ministry signed by senior secretary Abdul Momen disclosed the matter on Sunday.
The law adviser has been made the chairman of the ministry committee committee while the district magistrate has been made the chief of the district committee.
The ministry’s committee includes four general members and one member secretary while the district’s committee includes two general members and one member secretary.
According to the order, all victims must appeal to the district magistrate by December 31 to withdraw the political harassment cases. The certified copy of the chargesheet and first information report (FIR) will have to be submitted if needed.
The district committee will submit its recommendation to the government if it thinks the cases were politically motivated after scrutinizing the documents.
Based on the recommendation and further scrutiny, the government will take the initiative to withdraw the false cases, said the directive.
