The decision of banning Jamaat-Shbir taken during the last Awami League government will be withdrawn on Tuesday, said the party’s senior lawyer Mohammad Shishir Monir.
He said this while talking to the journalists in front of the annex building of Supreme Court.
Shishir Monir said, “According to the information provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the ban is being withdrawn tomorrow (Tuesday) or at the earliest.”
At the same time, he said that after the withdrawal of the ban, an application will be made for a re-hearing of the appeal related to the registration of Jamaat in the Appellate Division.
Shishir Monir also said, “A formal meeting of the Jamaat was held with the chief adviser on August 12. As per the discussion in the meeting, the legal aspects of the matter are looked into and necessary steps are taken for immediate resolution. Several meetings were held with the responsible persons of the government. The legal provisions are discussed in detail. In view of this, legal action was taken as per Section 19 of the Anti-Terrorism Act. Then according to the law, a three-member panel was formed by the concerned ministry of the government. According to our information, proper administrative procedures have already been completed in this regard. According to the decision of the government, the new gazette will be published after canceling the ban order as soon as possible.”
