Rickshaw-pullers block Shahbagh to raise their demands

After Ansar, the pedal rickshaw drivers has blocked the road in the capital. They called the battery-operated rickshaws as 'discriminatory' and demanded 7 points, including banning the autos, at Shahbag intersection.

Right now, traffic has stopped on every road surrounding Shahbagh intersection.

Around 10 am on Monday, pedal rickshaw drivers from different areas of Dhaka came to Shahbagh and took up their positions. Greater Dhaka City Corporation Rickshaw Owners Alliance organized the location program.

The other demands of the Alliance are - Dhaka South City Corporation and Dhaka North City Corporation should issue new rickshaw ownership licenses and renew old ones; In order to increase the revenue of the government and in the interest of the validly licensed rickshaw professionals, the driver license should be issued from the Dhaka North/South City Corporation; Free Friday medical treatment for sick drivers; Dhaka North/South City Corporation licensed rickshaw pullers are required to issue a business trade license.

In addition, once the rickshaw were ancient vehicles of the Bengali land (boat, palanquin, horse-drawn carriage), it should be given a place in Dhaka South City Corporation and National Museum like Dhaka North City Corporation; the money and property of the corrupt should be seized and be provided to the heroes who were killed in the anti-discrimination student movement and who are undergoing treatment in various hospitals - during the previous government, the families should be rehabilitated and the injured should be given good treatment with the collected money, and the mayor and the ruling party of Dhaka North City Corporation during the previous government. The extortionists dominated Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara areas of the capital and the driving rickshaws in special clothes unfairly and illegally should be stopped and legitimate foot rickshaws should be allowed to move.
