The students protesting for reforming quota in public service jobs have blocked the Dhaka-Aricha highway demanding the withdrawal of the Prime Minister's speech, reformation of quota protesting against the attack by the Chhatra League.
The blockade started around 3:30 pm on Tuesday. Earlier, they held a protest march from various residential halls of the universities from 11 am and took a stand at the main gate (Dairy Gate). Later, under the leadership of the students of Jahangirnagar University, the students of various schools and colleges of Savar including Public Universities, BPATC School and College participated in the blockade. About ten thousand students participated in it.
They blocked the Dhaka-Aricha highway in protest against the recent withdrawal of the Prime Minister's speech on the issue of quota reform and the attack of the Chhatra League on anti-discrimination activists across the country, including JU and for demanding the quota reform. They said that they will continue the movements until their demands are not met.
As of writing this report at 4:30 pm, the students were holding a sit-in program by blocking the Dhaka-Aricha highway.
