The High Court on Wednesday acquitted all accused including former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the Zia Charitable Trust graft case.
The bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Syed Enayet Hossain passed the order.
Senior lawyer Zainul Abedin and Barrister Kayser Kamal stood for the petition while lawyer Asif Hasan represented the ACC.
On November 20, the High Court began hearing Khaleda Zia's appeal.
Earlier on November 3, the High Court allowed Khaleda Zia to begin preparations for paper books in an appeal against a lower court's ruling.
On August 16, Khaleda Zia was declared completely free after President Mohammed Shahabuddin commuted her prison terms.
In August 2011, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the Zia Charitable Trust graft case with Tejgaon Police Station, accusing four people, including Khaleda Zia, of raising funds for the trust from unknown sources and abusing power.
The other three convicted accused were -- Khaleda Zia's then political secretary Harris Chowdhury (now dead), Harris Chowdhury's then private secretary Ziaul Islam Munna, private secretary to former mayor of the undivided Dhaka City Corporation Monirul Islam Khan.
A Dhaka court, on October 29, 2018, convicted Khaleda Zia and sentenced her to seven years imprisonment in the case.
