Director Rohit Shetty has confirmed sequels for Ranveer Singh's 'Simmba' and Akshay Kumar's 'Sooryavanshi'. He also mentioned that new actors will be joining the cinematic universe.
In conversation with Komal Nahta on his podcast Gamechangers, Shetty said, “Simmba will also have a part 2 and Sooryavanshi’s story will also progress. More characters will join, and more films will be made in the cop universe."
Rohit Shetty shared that the idea of a cop universe wasn’t part of the original plan. When he made ‘Singham’ in 2011, he never imagined it would grow into such a massive brand, reports India Today.
The concept of linking all the cop films together actually took shape while he was working on the script for ‘Simmba’.
The ‘Golmaal’ director counts Ajay Devgn, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Karan Johar among his closest confidants in the industry.
“There are 2-3 people I can call even at 2 am—Ajay sir, Ranveer, Deepika. I share a very close bond with them. In fact, when only the final schedule of Singham Again was left, Deepika was already four months pregnant, yet she still came to shoot. Relationships like these are truly rare,” he said.
Meanwhile, Rohit Shetty’s recent release was ‘Singham Again’, starring Ajay Devgn, Arjun Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Akshay Kumar.
