The 22nd special brief session of 11th parliament was prorogued on Monday after five sittings.
The special session of the Jatiya Sangsad was convened marking its golden jubilee as the JS first started journey on April 7, 1973 under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, reports BSS.
Before reading out the prorogation order of the president, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury presented a documentary prepared based on address of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Suhrawardy Uddyan in Dhaka on his Home Coming Day on January 10, 1972.
The speech of Bangabandhu was found from the research centre of the Bangladesh Awami League as the duration of the address was 22 minutes two seconds.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina delivered her valedictory speech at the closing of special session of the 11th parliament. Leader of the Opposition Begum Raushan Ershad also spoke.
Marking the golden jubilee of the JS, President M Abdul Hamid gave address on the second day of the special session.
Leader of the Jatiya Sangsad and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina brought a proposal under section 147 of the rules of procedure on April 7 marking the golden jubilee of JS.
A total of 63 treasury and opposition lawmakers participated in the discussion on the proposed motion.
The discussion was continued for 10 hours and twenty-seven minutes.
A total of five parliamentary standing committees were reconstructed during the session.
