Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has lambasted daily Prothom Alo and the usurer who funded Grameen Bank for their anti-state activities.
She made the criticism while addressing the thanksgiving motion at the Parliament on Monday.
Sheikh Hasina said, “This is Prothom Alo, which published fabricated news and used a child as a fake source by giving him cash. But it (Prothom Alo) lives in the dark. Prothom Alo is the enemy of Awami League, democracy and the people of the country.”
The Prime Minister said, “It is a matter of great sorrow that they (Prothom Alo and the usurer) don’t want to keep the country stable. They were joyous during the emergency period in 2007. Two newspapers tried heart and soul. One usurer had joined them.”
She said, “The usurer invests in the United States (US). The US never asked him about his role, facilities and responsibilities. The managing director of the bank got a salary from the state exchequer. How he got millions of dollars to invest in social business in the United States? They (the US) never asked him about his earning source. What is the source of this invested fund? Unfortunately, we are hearing anti-corruption statements and speech of humanity from them.”
“Those who sucked the blood of the poor and received the international award by becoming millionaires, they are trying to ruin the democracy in the country and they ducks and drakes with the fate of the people.”
The head of the government said they always say that the Awami League government did nothing for the country. She, later, presented the comparative development scenario of the Awami League and BNP regime.
