State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak has bought a chador that was burnt in the devastating fire at Bangabazar for Tk 40,000 through an initiative by Ekushey Padak winning organisation Bidyanondo Foundation, reports UNB.
The exchange occurred during distribution of iftar among underprivileged people organised by Bidyanondo Foundation on Thursday evening.
At least 5,000 businessmen were reportedly affected by the fire in Bangabazar market on Tuesday. The fire caused an estimated loss of Tk 1,000 crore. "They now need some financial and emotional support," the junior minister added.
He also said that money is not important, the important thing is that "we are beside the businessmen".
Palak appreciated the initiative of Bidyananda Foundation to stand by the affected traders in Bangabazar market with creative, innovative solutions and said that he will always support them in any great initiative.
The state minister urged everyone to stand by the helpless small businessmen of Bangabazar as per their ability.
Bidyananda Foundation has taken the initiative to stand by the affected businessmen.
By collecting these clothes, they are selling them to wealthy members of society, and the money from these sales will be handed over to the affected small traders.
