Just retired Cabinet Secretary Kabir Bin Anwar sat at the chair of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s former political adviser Hossain Toufique Imam (HT Imam) at Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi political office on Thursday evening.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader welcomed him with a flower bouquet.
Kabir Bin Anwar sat at the chair of the late HT Imam from where Imam used to conduct Awami League’s electoral activities. He will perform the same job as HT Imam, said party sources.
HT Imam passed away on March 4, 2021. He was 86.
On 11 December, the government appointed Ministry of Water Resources Senior Secretary Kabir Bin Anwar as the new Cabinet Secretary.
But three weeks after his appointment, Kabir Bin Anwar retired.
On Tuesday last, Senior Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain, who was previously assigned to the Energy and Mineral Resources Division has been made the new Cabinet Secretary.
Kabir Bin Anwar joined Bangladesh Civil Service on 15 February 1988 as an assistant commissioner.
In his career, Kabir performed many responsibilities and served in many important roles including the first secretary in the Embassy of Bangladesh, The Hague, Netherlands, senior assistant secretary in the Finance Division, senior assistant secretary in the Home Ministry and director general (admin) at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
