Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Monday greeted his Argentinean counterpart Santiago Andres Cafiero for Argentina’s victory in the FIFA World Cup 2022 Championship, reports BSS.
"You would be amazed to see the spontaneous rejoice of the people of Bangladesh after the victory of Argentine team in the FIFA World Cup, last night," he wrote in a letter to Argentine foreign minister.
"On behalf of the people of Bangladesh and on my own behalf, I have immense pleasure in conveying our heartfelt felicitations and congratulations to you and the friendly people of Argentine Republic for winning the FIFA World Cup 2022 Championship," Momen wrote to Cafiero who is also Argentine minister for International Trade and Worship.
The Bangladesh foreign minister said hearts of the people of Bangladesh and Argentina are dearly united by football, despite their geographical distance.
Momen said he looks forward to working closely with Argentina to consolidate mutual priorities and opening of missions in each other's capital in the coming days.
"In this joyful moment, I would like reiterate Bangladesh's commitment to deepen the existing relations and friendship between the two friendly countries," Momen said.
Lionel Messi won the World Cup for Argentina on Sunday as he scored twice against France in one of the all-time great finals before the South Americans held their nerve to win in a penalty shootout in Qatar.
