The country’s 21 eminent citizens have urged the countrymen to remain vigilant against the serial anti-Bangladesh propaganda and ill motives.
They made the call through a statement sent to the media on Thursday.
It said, “Recently we noticed a report published a Qatar based media which said a British lawyer recommended the government of the United States and the United Kingdom to impose a ban on Bangladesh. This lawyer has continuously been conducting propaganda against Bangladesh in the name of human rights issues. This lawyer Toby Cadman was the counsel of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami which committed war crimes during the 1971 Liberation War.”
They alleged this lobbyist group did an agreement with the lobbyist firm Cassidy & Associates to save the Jamaat leaders from trial for committing war crimes. Since then, they have been conducting anti-Bangladesh propaganda.
“Jamaat-e-Islami, which engaged itself with terrorist activities, called strike in the month of victory which is not acceptable. Toby Cadman is working with Jamaat since 2011. Jamaat brought 10-trucks arms, exploded bombs across the country and it has a connection with all militant groups,” it said.
The statement said Toby Cadman along with the lobbyist group has been recommending imposing various types of bans including economic on Bangladesh in favour of this militant party in the name of human rights.
Slamming the propaganda, they urged the people not to pay to heed any propaganda against the country and remain vigilant.
Eminent personalities who gave the statement are Pankaj Bhattacharya, Dr Sarwar Ali, Ramendu Majumdar, Rasheda K Chowdhury, Nur Mohammad Talukder, Professor Dr Anwar Hossain, Khusi Kabir, Dr Rashid-E-Mahbub, M M Akash, Professor Shafi Ahmed, Rana Dasgupta, Robaet Ferdous, Saleh Ahmed, Zahidul Bari, Parvez Hashem, Syed Abdullah-Al-Mamun Chowdhury, Ranjit Kumar Saha, Zobaida Nasreen, A K Azad, Abdul Wahed, and Zahirul Islam.
