UN urges efforts to avoid 'wider conflagration' after attack on Israel

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Saturday called upon diplomatic efforts in the Middle East in order to prevent the conflict from widening after Hamas's attacks on Israel, reports AFP.

"The Secretary-General urges all diplomatic efforts to avoid a wider conflagration," Guterres said, adding that "only through negotiation leading to a two-state solution can peace be achieved."

More than 300 people were killed in clash between Palestine and Israel on Saturday.
