The New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT), the largest container-handling terminal of Chattogram Port Authority, has set a record for the highest monthly container handling in its operational history in May.
In May, the terminal handled 126,496 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units), which is the highest ever recorded in a single month at NCT.
Previously, the record was 125,533 TEUs, achieved in October 2025.
According to the port authorities, the terminal is being operated by the Chittagong Dry Dock Limited (CDDL) under the supervision of the Port Authority’s Board of Directors and under the control of the Bangladesh Navy. 59,851 TEUs were import containers and 66,645 TEUs were export containers of the total containers handled in May. Overall, an average of 4,081 TEUs were handled daily throughout the month.
Chattogram Port’s Chief Personnel Officer Md Nasir Uddin said, “Since CDDL took over operations of NCT on July 7, 2025, the terminal’s activities have accelerated. The activities of container unloading and loading have become faster and more effective due to the alertness of the personnel on duty at the vessel points, delivery points, appraisal points, C&F sheds, and various entry and exit gates.
Currently, Chattogram Port operates through three terminals. Among them, NCT serves as the main container terminal. In addition, container vessels are also handled at the Chattogram Container Terminal (CCT) and General Cargo Berth (GCB).
