Democratization of the economy is the main philosophy of the proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2026-27, said Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury.
He said the government's goal is to ensure active participation of citizens in economic activities.
The Finance Minister said, “It will take two years for the country to reach a stable state from its current fragile state. The third year will be the time for transition, and the fourth and fifth years will be the years of prosperity for Bangladesh.”
Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion program titled 'The Fiscal Compass 2026: Beyond the Numbers, Shaping Bangladesh's Future—Proposed National Budget 2026-27' jointly organized by the Center for Governance Studies (CGS) and UAP at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) Auditorium on Green Road in the capital on Monday.
The Finance Minister said, “The budget had to be formulated in the context of high expectations of the people in just one and a half months. One of the goals of this budget is greater participation, inclusion and creation of new economic opportunities.”
He stressed on the creative economy and said that there is an opportunity to showcase the traditional arts and cultural resources of different regions of the country in the national and international markets, as It is possible to reach domestic crafts to the global market through e-commerce platforms.
