Stocks showed mixed trends in Bangladesh’s two bourses during the first hour of trading on Sunday, the first session after a three-day holiday.
At the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the benchmark DSEX index dropped 12 points in early trading. The Shariah-based DSES fell 1 point, and the blue-chip DS30 lost 11 points. Among listed companies, 167 issues declined, 135 advanced, and 82 remained unchanged. Turnover on the DSE crossed Tk 150 crore within the first hour.
Meanwhile, the Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE) recorded a positive opening, with the CASPI index rising 12 points. Gainers outnumbered losers, with 40 advancing, 11 declining, and 7 remaining unchanged. Early trading turnover at the port city bourse exceeded Tk 1.4 crore.
The contrasting trends highlight a cautious start to the week, with investors responding differently across the two major exchanges.
