Leaders of the Industry Executive Forum (IEF) demanded cancellation of the plan to increase gas prices in the industrial sector and take effective measures to resolve the gas crisis.
They said that the owners accepted the promise of an uninterrupted gas supply to the industry by increasing the gas price frequently. But in the meantime, due to the failure to control the production cost, many factories in the country were closed because they could not compete in the international market. Currently, several factories are on the verge of shutting down.
Speakers made the remarks while addressing a discussion at a city hotel on Saturday night arranged by the IEF.
They also said that instead of depending on imports, a safe and cost-effective method should be to find gas by searching internal sources of gas and ensuring advanced technical systems. If the proposal to hike the price of gas is implemented, the country’s industry will be destroyed. The country’s export earnings and employment will stop. Gas pricing needs to be reformed by including consumers’ feedback to ensure fair prices, speakers added.
