The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) paid homage to the intellectuals martyred in 1971 on the occasion of Martyred Intellectuals Day, laying wreaths at the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in Mirpur on Saturday morning.
BNP leaders and activists gathered at the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in Mirpur, where they laid wreaths to honor the fallen intellectuals. The party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, led the tribute at 9:30 AM.
Also present at the ceremony were BNP standing committee members Nazrul Islam Khan and Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, as well as Joint Secretary Generals Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Khairul Kabir Khokon. The gathering included Dhaka Metropolitan North Convener Aminul Islam, Dhaka Metropolitan South Convener Abdus Salam, and other leaders and party workers.
After the BNP's tribute, various associate organizations of the party paid tribute to the martyred intellectuals.
Earlier at 7 am, President Md. Shahabuddin and Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus paid tribute to the martyred intellectuals.
