Land, Civil Aviation, and Tourism Adviser AF Hassan Ariff on Wednesday urged landowners to play a proactive role in ensuring the success of online payments for land development (LD) taxes.
“The land services, including mutation, LD tax collection, and distribution of Khatians, will be moved online to make them more people-friendly and hassle-free,” he said.
The adviser made the remark while inaugurating a programme for the 100 per cent collection of land taxes online in the Tejgaon area of Dhaka, reports BSS.
The land ministry and the Dhaka District Administration jointly organised the programme with the ministry’s Senior Secretary ASM Saleh Ahmed in the chair.
“The people of Bangladesh, both home and abroad, will soon be able to access land-related services online,” he said, adding that the collection of land taxes online would be expanded across the country soon.
Saleh Ahmed said the government has started this pilot project from the Tejturi Bazar area.
“The landowners should authorise their ownership of lands by paying the land tax online,” he added.
The adviser later distributed prizes and certificates among the land taxpayers, winners of land coupons, land workers, and ambassadors. He also inspected the activities at the land camps and spoke to the visitors.
