University students and other government job seekers on Tuesday gave the interim government seven days to raise the public service joining age limit to 35 years, warning otherwise they would march to the capital from across the country.
Md Shariful Hasan Shuvo, central convener of the protest platform, issued the ultimatum at a press conference held at TSC of Dhaka University.
He questioned why a committee was formed for reviewing the age limit issue, when the government decided to fix the age limit by itself.
Shariful Hasan Shuvo also demanded the government either publicly acknowledge its review committee as incapable or meet the commission’s recommendation.
The committee had recommended raising the age limit from 30 years to 35 years for male government job candidates and 37 years for female candidates. Later, the government decided to raise the limit to 32 years.
At Tuesday’s press briefing, Shariful Hasan also compared the interim government with the ousted fascist Awami League government, questioning if there were any difference between the two.
