A Dhaka court on Thursday placed Mehedi Hasan Omi alias Rafi on a seven-day remand in a case filed over the recent escape of two death-row convicts from police custody at a Dhaka court.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shafi Uddin passed the order as police produced Mehedi before the court and pleaded to place him on a 10-day remand in the case.
According to the case statement, Mehedi, an alleged member of the banned militant outfit Ansar-al Islam, directly took part in the militants' snatching mission on November 20.
Mehedi is also an accused in blogger Nazimuddin Samad murder case.
On November 23, the Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Unit arrested Mehedi from the capital's Jatrabari area.
