Not everyone enjoys the same type of content on Facebook. What interests some might annoy others. Also, sharing everything with everyone isn’t always ideal. So, how can you ensure that your posts reach only the people who truly appreciate them?
Facebook offers a solution: Custom Lists. This feature allows you to share updates—whether personal, professional, or event-related—only with selected friends.
Why Use Facebook’s Custom Lists?
Custom lists give you control over who sees your posts, making it easier to share personal updates with close friends or work-related posts with colleagues. You can create separate lists for family, friends, and office contacts, ensuring that sensitive or specific information reaches the right audience.
How to Create a Custom Friend List on Facebook
To create a custom list, you’ll need to use a computer.
- Sign in to Facebook and click on the ‘Friends’ option from the left menu.
- Click ‘Create List’ and give your list a name (e.g., Friends, Family, Office).
- Tap the Confirm button to create the list.
- Click on the newly created list and tap ‘Add Friends’ on the right side.
- Type or scroll to select friends, then click ‘Save’ to finalize your list.
To edit, rename, or delete a list, select ‘Manage List’ at the top of your News Feed.
Using Custom Lists on a Smartphone
Once you’ve created custom lists on a computer, you can use them from your smartphone as well.
- While writing a post, tap the down arrow next to the ‘Friends’ option.
- Select ‘Show All Lists’ to view your custom lists.
- Choose the list you want to share the post with.
- Tap ‘Right’ at the top to confirm.
Now, you can ensure that your Facebook posts reach only the right people, making your social media experience more personal and effective!
