National Citizen Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam has stated “ ‘1971’ and ‘2024’ are not separate. Through the uprising of 2024 mass uprising, the spirit of 1971 has been revived. What we wanted in 1971 has been achieved in 2024”
He made this remark while speaking to journalists on Wednesday at the National Memorial in Savar after paying tribute to the heroic freedom fighters of 1971.
Nahid Islam further said, “We hope that no more blood will have to be shed in the days ahead. We want to build a democratic state system.”
The former adviser has also emphasized the need for reforms and justice. He also fears the rehabilitation of fascism.
He added, “There is an attempt to impose the old constitution. On the other hand, there is a conspiracy to rehabilitate fascism. There is a rush to hold an election just to seize power”
