Director Amitabh Reza has confirmed that "Rickshaw Girl" will be released in Bangladeshi cinemas in January, 2026.
"Rickshaw Girl" is based on a novel by Mitali Perkins, an Indian-American author, reports The Daily Star.
The story follows Naima, a talented young artist whose life changes when her father falls ill. To support her struggling family, she turns to rickshaw pulling, facing numerous challenges along the way.
Novera Rahman takes on the lead role in "Rickshaw Girl." The cast also includes Champa, Momena Chowdhury, Naresh Bhuiyan, and Allen Shubhro, among others.
Novera portrays Naima, while Momena Chowdhury plays her mother, and Naresh Bhuiyan takes on the role of her father.
Originally set for a 2020 release, "Rickshaw Girl" was delayed due to the Covid pandemic.
Regarding the new release timeline, Amitabh Reza stated, "I create films for the audience. This movie has already received widespread acclaim internationally, and now I want to present it to the people of my own country. With that goal, we are planning a release in January. While the exact date is yet to be finalised, we are confident that it will arrive in cinemas next year."
