Recently, Pantho Afzal held an engaging conversation with this talented actress. The highlights of their discussion are presented here.
What inspired you to pursue acting?
When I was in the fourth or fifth grade, everyone around me would call me 'model' or 'actress.' At that time, we lived in the Railway Officers' Colony in Motijheel. On my way to music classes, people would often say, "Look, look, the actress is going." It seems that at that age, they planted the idea in my mind that I should pursue an acting career when I grew up.
How did you first get involved in drama?
I began my journey under the guidance of Bannah Vai (Maburur Rashid Bannah), making my acting debut in the play "Sporsher Chowa," which he directed. Since then, I have collaborated with several directors. However, "Lafanga" was my first release. I was introduced to this project through a production company, which led to my collaboration with director Hridoy and actor Musfiq R. Farhan. The opportunity arose unexpectedly, and everything came together seamlessly.
How is the audience responding to Miksetu Mithu’s “Vivaman”?
I am receiving quite a positive response. Those who have seen it are specifically discussing this work. Overall, I feel quite satisfied.
You are working with thoughtful consideration, right?
Hmm... As a new actress, I'm choosing projects based on the story. I'm not focused on views or going viral right now; I only take on roles that resonate with me. "Vivaman" is exactly that kind of story that I find appealing.
Have you come across any romantic or mysterious characters?
I have worked on a few romantic stories. While I've participated in several projects, many have not been released due to the current circumstances in the country. There are still quite a few awaiting release, most of which are romantic. However, I haven't yet had the opportunity to explore mystery stories.
I've heard you have a special affinity for the thriller and romantic genres. What attracts you to them?
I can't pinpoint a specific reason, but I find I connect more with this type of work. That said, I believe that thrillers require a greater level of experience.
What are your thoughts on films?
I’m not considering it just yet. My mother loves drama. When I was working in commercials, she would often say, "If you're going to pursue anything extra, consider acting in dramas." So, I’m acting in drama to fulfill her wishes.
How are you balancing your acting and studies?
I am studying Media and Journalism at a private university. I aspire to pursue acting as a profession and want to work regularly in good stories. I also aim to complete my studies.
