Popular television drama actor Waliul Haq Rumi, who had been battling against cancer for a long time, passed away at a private hospital in the capital on Monday.
Rumi breathed his last in the early hours of the day while undergoing treatment at the hospital, said his nephew Faisal Ahmed.
The actor has been suffering from colon cancer for a long time. He was taken to India’s Chennai for advanced treatment. He was receiving treatment at a private hospital after returning to Bangladesh.
Waliul Haq Rumi made his acting debut with BTV's popular drama 'Kon Kanan Phool'. After that, he acted in many dramas. He also performed in popular stage plays including 'Ekhno Kreetodas'. He made his silver screen debut with the film "Doriaparer Douloti" in 2009.
Rumi hailed from Barisal. He will be buried there next to his mother's grave.
He is survived by his wife, one son, and one daughter. His latest drama 'Bakulpur' is currently airing on Deepto TV.
