The Speaker of the National Parliament, Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, has said that the Parliament has been able to fulfill the expectations of the people so far.
He said, “The government party will give the budget, the opposition will criticize. We will welcome this constructive criticism from the opposition.”
He said this in response to various questions from journalists at the Bhola Circuit House on Tuesday.
The Speaker said, “I will see to it that the opposition party gets adequate time in the parliament to fulfill their duties. I have noticed the spirit of cooperation between the government party and the opposition party in the previous parliament sessions. I hope there will be cooperation between them still. The government party and the opposition will present a comfortable budget together so that there will be relief in public life.”
He expressed hope and added, “I have seen the spirit of cooperation in the first session. I hope we will see it in the next budget session as well. I think that so far this Parliament has been able to fulfill the hopes of the people. They will be able to play a better role in the coming days. Every Member of Parliament will take initiative to implement the hopes and aspirations of the countrymen regarding this parliament.
Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed arrived in his district Bhola on Tuesday afternoon on a four-day visit on the occasion of Eid. Before going to his constituency Lalmohan, he stopped at Bhola Circuit House.
Bhola deputy commissioner Dr. Shamim Rahman, district council commissioner Golam Nabi Alamgir, police superintendent Md. Shahidullah Kawsar, along with administration officials and district BNP leaders were present at the time.
