Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) director general (DG) and additional IGP Md. Ahsan Habib Palash has said that there is no concern in the overall security arrangements for the holy Eid-ul-Azha so far.
However, he assured that even if there is no concern or threat, RAB has special security preparations to deal with any kind of unexpected situation.
The RAB DG said this while talking to reporters after inspecting the security arrangements at the National Eidgah Maidan in the capital on Tuesday morning.
Md. Ahsan Habib Palash has said that RAB has made extensive security preparations in coordination with other law enforcement agencies on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. We have not experienced any threat so far. However, even if there is no threat, our own special security arrangements are strong.
He also said, “Special measures have been taken to ensure security at the main congregations of Eid. Search operations are being carried out by setting up mobile check posts at important spots. Overall security measures have been strengthened through check posts in coordination with other law enforcement agencies across the country.”
Regarding the security of the empty capital during Eid, the RAB DG said, “Due to the comparatively reduced crowd in various cities including the capital during Eid, there is a risk of crimes such as theft, robbery and snatching. To deal with this situation, the number of night security posts has been increased. At the same time, night patrolling has been strengthened at all metropolitan cities, districts and upazilas.”
Mentioning the role of RAB in sacrificial animal markets and preventing fake money, Md. Ahsan Habib Palash said, “RAB's surveillance continues to prevent the suffering of buyers and sellers at animal markets. In addition, necessary equipment has been kept ready to prevent and identify fake money and RAB's campaign against counterfeit money makers is ongoing. Special steps are also going on to ensure that no one can forcefully take vehicles carrying sacrificial animals to a specific market.”
Stating that RAB's cyber wing is active to prevent the spread of any kind of rumors on social media, the RAB chief said, "RAB's intelligence surveillance and cyber monitoring are on round-the-clock to ensure that no one can post any rumors or misleading posts on social media regarding Eid and Sacrifice. Strict legal action will be taken against anyone who makes such an attempt."
