Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said that an integrated training center or hub will be set up for law enforcement agencies in Jungle Salimpur of Chattogram.
He shared this information at a briefing held at the police headquarters on Tuesday afternoon.
The Home Minister said, “For the last 17 years, there was no rule of law in the country and Jungle Salimpur had become another state within the state. A large number of weapons have been recovered from there in a joint operation by law enforcement agencies and some serious accused have been arrested. Now, there are plans to set up an integrated training center for various forces including the police and RAB academy, sports complex, BGB and APBN in the area. In addition, there is talk of shifting the Chattogram jail there. Terrorists will not be given any more space there. They will be strictly subdued.”
Regarding the Eid procession, he said, “The highways and expressways, including the Jamuna and Padma bridges, are under round-the-clock surveillance of CCTV cameras. Where there is no CCTV, surveillance is being carried out through police body-worn cameras. This time, accidents on the highway have decreased a lot compared to the past. Accidents can be avoided if passengers are aware.”
He said, “The police and Bangladesh Bank have installed detection machines to prevent counterfeit notes at the cattle market. The city corporation and district administrations are taking special measures to remove the waste of the sacrifice within 24 hours.”
Salahuddin Ahmed said, “The administration and police have been instructed to ensure all kinds of security during the celebration of festivals and rituals of other communities during Eid, so that everyone can perform their rituals without any hindrance.”
