Different information verification organizations will not be allowed to verify their entire information from the Election Commission’s server, said Bangladesh's National Identity Registration Division’s director general (DG) ASM Humayun Kabir.
The NID DG informed this to the reporters on Monday.
He said that from now on, the EC will not allow any organization to verify the entire information of the NID. It will inform the information verification organization whether it is correct or incorrect. That is, from now on, others will not be able to completely verify the important information of citizens.
The NID DG said that this decision has been taken to prevent information leakage.
Stating that there have been incidents of information leakage from various organizations in the past, ASM Humayun Kabir further said that a committee will be formed from the EC, which will be able to inspect and investigate various organizations without permission. The information verification organizations and those working in the organizations will need security clearance.
Stating that the work of correcting various errors in the NID is going on rapidly, he said, "Since the crash program was launched to resolve pending applications for correction of national identity cards, 50 percent of the applications have been resolved. All applications will be resolved soon."
