Law Advisor Professor Asif Nazrul has said that the clashes between Dhaka University (DU) and seven college students are undesirable.
He said this in response to questions from journalists after a meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Secretariat on Monday.
Asif Nazrul said, “These are undesirable. We will try to take more initiatives to avoid it. We will try to do whatever we can to resolve this.”
He said the police handled the clash between students of seven colleges, including Dhaka College, and Dhaka University students on Sunday night with great patience. Sound grenades and tear shells were used just as the necessity to handle the situation. Otherwise, a bloody clash could have been occurred.”
Meanwhile, it has been decided not to organize the first-year undergraduate admission test of seven government colleges affiliated to DU under the University. This decision will be effective from the 2024-25 academic year. Dhaka's seven major colleges will not remain under Dhaka University (DU).
The decision was taken at a meeting between the Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University and the principals of the seven colleges on Monday. Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed gave this information in a written statement after the meeting.
