Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has paid a courtesy visit to Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, the Ameer of Islami Andolon Bangladesh, also known as the Charmonai Pir.
On Tuesday at noon, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman visited the premises of Ahchanabad Jamia Rashidia Islamia Madrasa, located in Barishal Sadar Upazila. During his visit, he toured the entire madrasa campus and met with leaders of Islami Andolon.
Later, he joined Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim to address the media.
Speaking to journalists, the Ameer of Islami Andolon Bangladesh, Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, said, “The Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami and other leaders have come to Charmonai. May Allah grant us the ability to work for Islam, the country, and humanity. It has been 54 years since independence, yet the aspirations of our nation have not been fulfilled by those who governed the country. May Allah grant us the ability to work together and build this nation in favor of Islam and humanity.”
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, also spoke to the media, saying, “I want to say openly that we love each other for the sake of Allah. May Allah accept this brotherly love. There are approximately 18 crore (180 million) people in this country, of whom around 91% feel comfortable identifying as Muslims. The rest are people of different religions, but they are also part of our beloved Bangladesh.”
Regarding India’s border fencing, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman remarked, “India is our neighbor. If your house is next to mine, do we put up barbed wire fences? We don’t. The doors remain open for each other, and we hope for the same from India.”
Jamaat Ameer has also said that fencing is not a recent phenomenon. It started a long time ago and India started it.
