Home adviser to interim government Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said some 33,648 foreign nationals are living in the county illegally.
He on Monday made the statement in a press briefing after a meeting with Law and Order Committee at the secretariat. He said: “The foreign national must submit their legal papers by 31st January to become legal.” If they are doing so, then the adviser warns of strict actions against them.
Earlier, the ministry issued timeline allowing illegal foreigners to be legal following procedures. During that time, the ministry warned of legal actions against individuals and institutes that are sheltering illegal stayers.
