The Appellate Division has postponed the hearing of the review petition to restore the caretaker government system to February 9, in response to an application from the BNP.
The decision was made today (Sunday) by the Appellate Division, led by Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam.
On December 1, the Appellate Division, headed by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, scheduled the review for hearing on January 19.
On October 16, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir filed a review petition against the ruling that annulled the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, which abolished the caretaker government system. Prior to this, a review petition was also filed by Dr Badiul Alam Majumdar, the Secretary of Citizens for Good Governance (Shujan), on the same matter.
Additionally, on behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, the party's Secretary General, Prof Mia Golam Parwar, filed a review petition.
These review petitions were scheduled to be heard together.
